This year, our annually recurring program Discomfort Zone features a multilingual mix of Moroccan, Dutch and Palestinian poetry.
Five women, ten voices: Asmaa Azaizeh, Nisrine Mbarki, Rim Battal, Widad Mjama and Anneke Brassinga read from their own work in the original language. They will read in Moroccan/Darija, Dutch, Arabic and French.
The five poets will also recite a poem by a female poet from outside their comfort zone: be it from a different time, a different perspective and/or operating from a different poetic or ideology than themselves. Five poets confront their Self and the Other: they let us hear where they are from and where they are not from.
Host: Thomas Möhlmann and Nisrine Mbarki
